We are now proudly stocking jewelry from 31 BITS--a fair trade business helping war-torn Ugandan women rise out of poverty. These bits are bought directly from women enrolled in a program that provides literacy education, financial and vocational training, holistic care, and a support system that empowers them to provide for their families. Every purchase helps these women attain housing, food, and healthcare while saving for future business endeavors.
Beads are made from recycled paper--magazines, old posters, fliers and textbooks--and then sealed with a clear varnish. Depending on the size of the necklace or bracelet, each designer creates 5-15 pieces per week. We think they are beautiful and very affordable--starting at just $10. We hope you think so, too.
